I beleive the author was attempting to just introduce you to the concept of advertising with Google and Yahoo, as in Google Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Searches. After grasping the concept of using pay per click advertising, the reader can then go to various online resources to get detailed information straight from the source.
I would recommend this book to people just getting started in Internet marketing. Also, you may want to check out Ron Taylor's book below for information on getting started making money with paid surveys and affiliate marketing.
